Yesterday, I had what my buddy Dave in Show Low calls “my agenda!” But I’m just trying to do what is in front of me. Starting at the Adobe for breakfast with Richard, we were seated outside overlooking the golf course. We had a great breakfast, said some prayers of gratitude and left to get to my house, then onto Josh’s to install some artwork.
Ayden opened the front door, and when I introduced myself, he said, “I’ve met you. You’re Josh’s Dad. Our kids are in music together, and we met at Crossroads 18 years ago!” His buddy Dorian was seated at the table working. WTF?? We shared about Solution on Central and how we knew many of the same players looking for the Solution instead of a drink or a fix!
We laughed out loud at the coincidence(?) of who was renting their house, and then called Josh in Albania. Sending photos to Josh and his property manager, it all came together like Someone had it all planned. It definitely wasn’t me.
After finishing, Richie and I drove to my brothers' to finish packing up his stuff. It was very emotional; waves of regret, sadness & good memories with Bob were like a meteor shower. When Judy walked in to gather some of the personal items, we hugged and shared some of the feelings. I left, emotionally exhausted, and drove over to Flo’s to meet Gail, Robbie & Donna for dinner. Handing Flo a bouquet of flowers to thank her for her hospitality over 30 years, and in memory of Bob, she handed me a gift certificate my cousin Linda had purchased for him. It was a powerful reminder of the connection we share - love, gratitude, & now, sadness & loss.
Our friends and Gail walked in, and sat down; we had a great dinner and caught up on life. They had just returned from a 2-week trip to Japan and South Korea, Donna’s birthplace, and their photos and stories were wonderful. Was this day for real??
Back at Gails, I climbed into bed & reviewed the day. There is no way I planned today’s “agenda”!!!
You promised a way to get back into the stream of life. And it has been. What a long, strange trip it’s been!!
Thank you God, and the Fellowship for a design for living to share; one worth living!!
