Getting back into the Valley, I was able to meet up with my buddy Bruce, and go to the Noon MAAM meeting – the Men’s Attitude Adjustment. In the SRI Meeting schedule, MAAM meets every day, twice on Tuesday & Thursday.
Do I really need an Attitude Adjustment that often?
Yep. How many times a day do I want to manage, control, criticize, or fall into self-pity?
No wonder I carried a 2 gram bullet in my pocket, or dropped into a tavern for an early lunch or happy hour refresher. Or maybe took a nip off the bottle or a hit in my car?
Our Step Eleven morning meditation suggests we “ask God to direct our thinking…”
I’ve discovered that the longer I’m clean & sober, the more I need to apply this solution. Later in the day, as I was outside cleaning up the front yard, Charlie F. drove by and honked. Charlie's famous line to me is,
“Hey, Steve, pull your pants up. This is a no crack neighborhood!”
Sobriety is not the end of the line; it’s a new beginning, with laughter, fellowship and humor.
Thank you for a solution to the crack in my thinking; one that separates me from a beautiful, loving and secure world. Instead of sitting around waiting for the phone to ring, you’ve given me a formula to live in a new world, that before, only a drink or substance could fix.
