“I often struggle to be understanding and tolerant.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

The Path to Tranquility

Dalai Lama

From the beginning of civilization, delusions have been the real causes of our problems, troubles, and conflicts within society. It is delusion that forces one to be attracted to and attached to one’s own side; we often feel hatred and anger toward the opposite side, whether within our own family and/or our community. All of these delusions come about through the underlying force of our attachment to one’s own self-righteousness. To be free, we must allow each individual the right to choose his or her own path, without criticism or condemnation.

Grant Us Peace

Reform Judaism

Grant us peace, Thy most precious gift, O Thou Eternal Source of peace, and enable us to proclaim its message to all the peoples of the earth. Bless our country, that it may always be a stronghold of peace, and to be its advocate among the nations. May contentment reign within its border, health and happiness within its homes. Strengthen the bonds of friendship among the inhabitants of all lands, and may the love of Your name hallow every home and every heart. Blessed be Thou, O Lord, Giver of Peace. Amen.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Hazelden Foundation

Pray - and let us keep praying until it brings peace and serenity and a feeling of communion with the One who is near, and ready to help. The thought of God is balm for our hates and fears. In praying to God, we find healing for hurt feelings and resentments. In thinking of God, doubts and fears leave us. Instead of those doubts, and fears, there will flow into our hearts such faith and love as is beyond the power of material things to give, and such peace as the world can neither give nor take away. And with God, we can have the tolerance to live and let live. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may have true tolerance and understanding. I pray that I may keep striving for these difficult things.
