A Wave

August 13, 2025

“The Pink Floyd song, Comfortably Numb, perfectly described my state of mind while using & drinking.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Read — the readings that opened the day

1

God is in charge of my thoughts and actions.

Karen Casey

“Any negative thought or action can be stopped, even in midstream. At any time during the day, using a replacement thought, such as "God is in charge", saying the Serenity prayer, the 23rd Psalm, or a prayer of your choice may be substituted. The freedom we will feel using this technique is astounding. Our attitude will be enhanced as we grow in our reliance on these replacement tools & sayings. God, help me to pause throughout the day to clear my mind; to let go of my negative thoughts & to move into enlightenment.”

Meditation for the Day

Hazelden Foundation

“Never be satisfied with a comparison with those around you. Strive toward a better life as your ultimate goal. Make it a daily practice to review your character. Take your character in relation to your daily life, to your dear ones, your friends, your acquaintances, and your work. Each day try to see where God wants you to change. Plan how best each fault can be eradicated or each mistake be corrected. God is your helper through weakness to power, through danger to security, through fear and worry to peace and serenity. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may make real progress toward a better life. I pray that I may never be satisfied with my present state.”
