A Wave

“In recovery, I learned I was seeking my own approval.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Perfectionism: The Enemy of Goodness and Grace

Richard Rohr

“Belief in an angry, punitive God, and validation by personal good behavior - perfectionism - is a very unstable and illusory path. If there is such a thing as human perfection, it seems to emerge precisely from how we handle the imperfection that is everywhere, especially in ourselves. As we grow in our journey in The Spirit, we grow in being one who can consciously forgive and include imperfection, rather than think we are above imperfection. Today, I give thanks to God for His Love & Grace in spite of my own imperfections.”

Today's Gift

Hazelden Foundation

“We could never have arrived at this point in our lives without the help of a lot of other people. It has been said that we stand on the shoulders of all those who have gone before us. The thing about gratitude is that the more we express it, the larger it grows. Withholding gratitude diminishes us. Like a candle, when we say thank you, our own light and the light in the world grows brighter! As grown men & women, we all have a mountain of things and people to be thankful for. The more we say it and give it away, the bigger and stronger we feel. Just for today, I will thank someone who has helped me along my path.”

Meditation for the Day

Hazelden Foundation

Between you and any scorn or indignity from others is your trust in God. With this deep trust, nothing can have the power to spoil your inward peace. You can attain this inward peace in your surroundings, as well as in your heart. With this inward peace, you do not need to resent yourself, the other person or people who trouble you. Instead, you can overcome the resentment in your heart. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may strive for inward peace. I pray that I may not be seriously upset, no matter what happens around me.
