In God's Care: Daily Meditations on Spirituality in Recovery

Hazelden Foundation

We have been given a new freedom. Not just from addiction, but to allow our thoughts or our decisions to give unconditional love to others. We must keep the channel to our Higher Power always open, always freely flowing. Our spiritual health is our responsibility and it's an easy one to handle. The only requirement is that we offer love and goodwill to others. Today, I will enhance my spiritual health by focusing my love on the men & women on my path so that I may share and feel God's presence.

When God Changes the Rules (Richard Rohr Daily Meditations)

Richard Rohr

What would you do if God asked you to challenge everything you thought was true? What if God changed God’s mind, to expand the circle of grace to include everyone; our friends, enemies, people who don’t act how, or do, what we think they should? The Book of Jonah portrays God as the lover of our enemies; a God who cares for non-humans with the same devotion as God cares for humankind. Constantly doing a new thing, God calls us to be innovative as we embrace new understandings of God’s vision for humankind and the world. God changed God’s mind. Have I changed mine?

Meditation for the Day

Hazelden Foundation

Disillusionment and doubt spoil life. The doubting ones are the disillusioned ones. When you are in doubt, you are on the fence. You are not going anywhere. Doubt poisons all action, so you don't do anything. We can meet life with a ‘Yes,’ an affirmative attitude. There is good in the world, and we can follow that good. There is power available to help us to do the right thing; therefore we will accept that power. There are miracles of change in people's lives; therefore we can accept those miracles as evidence of God's power. Prayer for the Day I pray that I will not be paralyzed by doubt. I pray that I may go along on the venture of faith.
