A Wave

“Brent, thanks for being an amazing example; even when the streets have no name, through prayer, meditation & action, new life beyond my wildest dreams can be lived!”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Alcoholics Anonymous (Big Book)

Alcoholics Anonymous

“When we saw others solve their problems by a simple reliance upon the Spirit of the Universe, we had to stop doubting the power of God. Our ideas did not work. But the God idea did.” ~We Agnostics, p. 52

Daily Reflections

“Like a blind man gradually being restored to sight, I slowly groped my way to the Third Step. Having realized that only a Power greater than myself could rescue me from the hopeless abyss I was in, I knew that this was a Power that I had to grasp, and that it would be my anchor in the midst of a sea of woes. Even though my faith at that time was minuscule, it was big enough to make me see that it was time for me to discard my reliance on my prideful ego and replace it with the steadying strength that could only come from a Power far greater than myself.” Daily Reflections

A Deep Breath of Life

Alan Cohen

“Just for today, help me to be attuned to the call of Your Spirit; to honor my soul by being where I belong. I ask for the courage to honor my intuition. Your Spirit speaks to me through my heart, and I will answer through my deeds.” Excerpt from A Deep Breath of Life, Alan Cohen

Thinking About Thinking

Wes Nisker

“Beginning meditators are often shocked to realize that they can actually observe and investigate their own mental life. For all of our sophisticated understandings about the ways of the world, we remain almost completely ignorant of how what we call “mind” is generated. Most people know more about how coffee is produced than about how their thoughts are created. Most know more about the firing of their automobile engine’s pistons than the firing of their brain cells’ synapses. Yet as we meditate, we become more aware of the habitual nature of our thoughts. I think of this level as consisting of the mental grooves that our thoughts habitually follow. Meditation helps us break free of these habitual patterns and unleash the original and creative power of thought. Today, I can pause and let go of all negative, uncomfortable, and disturbing thoughts, be still, and know the Spirit is being channeled through my soul.” Adapted from Wes Nisker, “Thinking About Thinking”

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Meditation for the Day I must remember that in spiritual matters I am only an instrument. It is not mine to decide how or when I am to act. God plans all spiritual matters. It is up to me to make myself fit to do God's work. All that hinders my spiritual activity must be eliminated. I can depend on God for all the strength I need to overcome those faults that are blocks. I must keep myself fit, so that God can use me as a channel for His spirit. Prayer for the Day I pray that my selfishness may not hinder my progress in spiritual matters. I pray that I may be a good instrument for God to work with.
