A Wave

“We put the hula hoop on the ground, we step inside, and that’s what we can manage and control!”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Read — the readings that opened the day

Excerpt From Twenty Four Hours a Day

Anonymous

“I will try to be unruffled, no matter what happens. I will keep my emotions in check, although others about me are letting theirs go. I will keep calm in the face of disturbance, keep that deep, inner calm through all the experiences of the day. In the rush of work and worry, the deep, inner silence is necessary to keep me on an even keel. I must learn to take the calm with me into the most hurried days.”

Excerpt From A Year with Thomas Merton

Thomas Merton

“When you accept what you have, you see all you have received is more than enough, and you are overwhelmed. I desire other things because I fear to be content with what I have—I fear it is inglorious. In the last few days I have seen what matters is to be humble enough to admit I am content with just this. I leave the rest to God.”

Richard Rohr Daily Meditations

Richard Rohr

“If we are going to be the rebuilders of society, we need to be rebuilt ourselves. A healthy psyche lives within at least four containers of meaning. Imagine four nested domes. The first is called my story, the second is our story, the third is other stories, and the fourth is the story. This is what I call the cosmic egg. It’s the unique and almost unconscious gift of a healthy faith of the Power within each one of us. Much of the genius of the Bible is that it honors & integrates all four; much of the weakness of our deconstructed society is that it often honors only one level at best. The whole/healed/saintly person lives happily inside of all of them.”

Meditation for the Day

Hazelden Foundation

“I will try to be unruffled, no matter what happens. I will keep my emotions in check, although others about me are letting theirs go. I will keep calm in the face of disturbance; keep that deep, inner calm through all the experiences of the day. In the rush of work and worry, the deep, inner silence is necessary to keep me on an even keel. I must learn to take the calm with me into the most hurried days. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may be still and commune with God. I pray that I may learn patience, humility, and peace.”
