A Wave

“there IS a God and it's not you!”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Read — the readings that opened the day

1

Exodus 3:4

When the LORD saw that he had turned aside to look, God called to him out of the bush: “Moses! Moses!” He answered, "Hineni - Here I am." ( Exodus 3:4 ) It is a spontaneous commitment promising: “I am here”, right where and as You found me; fully attentive, focused, all in. Even more, “I am here”- all of me, with all that I am and all that I can be. “Hineni” is a response of sacred and undiluted presence, a response in which the self sheds all reservations. When we promise ourselves – as we enter a new era of our lives - to be all that we can be. It is no doubt the kind of response God was hoping for.”

The Varieties of Religious Experience

William James

"While the revelations of the mystic hold true, they hold true only for the mystic; for others, they are certainly ideas to be considered, but can hold no claim to truth without personal experience of such."

3

The Wisdom of Insecurity

Alan W. Watts

“Faith is an unreserved opening of the mind to Truth, whatever it may turn out to be. Faith has no preconceptions; it is a plunge into the unknown. Belief clings, but faith lets go.”
