A Wave

December 16, 2024

“More proof that in sharing our feelings and journey in sobriety, we get to experience the wonders of a Higher Power at work.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Stepping Stones Daily Meditations

“We don't like to admit that we are afraid. When we won't admit the fear, we can't deal with it. By denying our feelings, we don't get stronger. An admission to ourselves can be followed by talking about it with a friend or a sponsor. Sometimes just speaking the fear out loud is enough to put it in perspective. Reminding ourselves that we have opened to a Power greater than ourselves, we talk about and walk through our fears. Today, as I notice feelings of fear, I will turn to a Power greater than myself and share with another in constructive ways.”

A Deep Breath of Life

Alan Cohen

“How does it all come together? If we sat down to explain all of the miraculous meetings & events in our lifetime, we would be boggled in an instant. Every day a billion synchronicities keep the great cogs and wheels of the Universe running flawlessly. How does it all work? Ah, the sweet mystery of life, of God! Great Spirit, I bow before the mystery. I quit trying to manipulate life; I will trust You to keep me in my right place, at the right time, for the right purpose. Today, I give thanks for Your exquisite love and rejoice in The Mystery & Your wisdom throughout my entire life.”

Open Mind, Open Heart 20th Anniversary Edition

Thomas Keating

“The cultivation of habits of dedication to God and of service is the stabilizing force for emotionally charged thoughts, whether of self-exaltation or of self-depreciation. Dedication to God is developed by commitment to one’s spiritual practices for the love of God. Service to others is the outgoing movement of the heart prompted by compassion. It neutralizes the deep-rooted tendency to become preoccupied with our own spiritual journey and how we are doing. The habit of service to others is developed by trying to please God in what we do and by exercising compassion beginning with those with whom we live.”

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Meditation for the Day “Life is not a search for happiness. Happiness is a by-product of living the right kind of a life, of doing the right thing. Do not search for happiness; search for right living and happiness will be your reward. Life is sometimes a march of duty during dull, dark days. But happiness will come again, as God's smile of recognition of your faithfulness. True happiness is always the by-product of a life well lived. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may not seek happiness but seek to do right. I pray that I may not seek pleasure so much as the things that bring true happiness.”
