A Wave

December 14, 2024

“Falling into deep gratitude, with the warm embrace of a loving Spirit, tears came to my eyes.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

A Deep Breath of Life

Alan Cohen

If we become preoccupied with material pursuits, worldly worries, or self-protection, we dampen the light of our soul. We miss the true joy of living. THE light is our true nature. We generate a mountain of distractions we invest our energy in building a kingdom on Earth (the outer world), instead of Heaven. True joy is in spiritual aliveness, spiritual expansion of inner life. Today, help me remember that a true awareness & growth of my spiritual identity provides the true riches of life.

Expanding Our Images of God

Richard Rohr

If God is always Mystery, then God is always in some way the unfamiliar, beyond what we’re used to, beyond our comfort zone. Recovery invites us to a way through all limited concepts of God, into an Infinite & Eternal Flow of Perfect Love.  Prayer and meditation open the door to an interior journey; an Unlimited inner experience begins to unfold. Mystics are those who are let in on this secret mystery of God’s love affair with the soul. We are invited into this mystery, to deeply embrace that God loves my soul in particular; the secret that God loves me uniquely.

Meditation for the Day / Prayer for the Day

Hazelden Foundation

Try to see the life of the Spirit as a calm place, shut away from the turmoil of the world. Think of your spiritual home as a place full of peace, serenity, and contentment. Go to this quiet, meditative place for the strength to carry you through today's duties and problems. Keep coming back here for refreshment when you are weary of the hubbub of the outside world. From this quietness and communion comes our strength. I pray that I may keep this resting place where I can commune with God. I pray that I may find refreshment in meditation on the Eternal.
