A Wave

December 13, 2024

“The door to recovery really is an opening to vast resources, a whole new way of life.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

In God's Care: Daily Meditations on Spirituality in Recovery

We still can act impulsively and forget to rely on our Higher Power's guidance. But every time we take just a moment and quiet the noise in our mind, we’ll hear wisdom that will direct us in how to proceed. We are so fortunate. Through Twelve Steps, the wisdom freely offered to us through meetings, and our regular contact with God have made our life more meaningful and spirit-filled than we had ever imagined possible. Today, in every situation we can be certain that we are fulfilling our True purpose. Even when our mind is filled with indecision and doubt, I can stop and take a deep breath. If our actions encourage compassion and forgiveness, we can know and affirm God’s Love is guiding us.

Daily Meditations by Richard Rohr

Richard Rohr

In his book The Idea of the Holy, scholar Rudolph Otto (1869–1937) says that when someone has an experience of the Holy, they find themselves caught up in two opposite things at the same time: the scary mystery and the alluring mystery. The experience of the Holy as beyond and too much is another sense of fascination, allurement, and seduction; it’s being pulled into something very good, inviting & wonderful. It’s a paradoxical experience. Otto says if we don’t have both, we don’t have the true or full experience of the Holy. Mysticism begins when the totally transcendent image of God starts to recede, and there’s a deepening sense of God as imminent, present, here, now, safe, and even within me.

The Power of Now

Eckhart Tolle

Once you have understood the basic principle of being present as the watcher of what happens inside you — and you “understand” it by experiencing it — you have at your disposal the most potent transformational tool.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Meditation for the Day The Higher Power can guide us to the right decisions if we pray about them. We can believe that many details of our lives are planned by God and planned with a wealth of forgiving love for the mistakes we have made. We can pray today to be shown the right way. We can choose the good, and when we choose it, we can feel that the whole power of the universe is behind us. We can achieve a real harmony with God's purpose for our lives. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may choose right today. I pray that I may be shown the right way to live today.
