A Wave

September 10, 2026

“Unmanageability has nothing to do with whether we’re drinking or not.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

The Daily Reader for Contemplative Living

Thomas Keating

“Instead of self-centered motivation, in a world in which we see everything from the perspective of the big “I am” of ego, we see it from the big “I AM” of God’s world; a selfless, rather than self-centered world; the truest view of reality.”

Experiencing Spirituality

Ernest Kurtz & Katherine Ketcham

“Genuine spirituality looks not at its nose nor in a mirror but outside the self, beyond the immediate and the subjective. That very looking beyond ourself conveys us away from the self-centeredness that is the human trap. Such spirituality asks: “Whom can I help today?” and “How can I be of service?”

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Meditation for the Day Do I want the full and complete satisfaction that I find in serving God and all the satisfactions of the world also? It is not easy to serve both God and the world. It is difficult to claim the rewards of both. One must be prepared to sometimes stand apart from the world. I cannot always turn to the world and expect all of the rewards life has to offer. Yet, as I try sincerely to serve God, I will have other and greater rewards than the world as to offer. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may not expect too much from the world. I pray that I may also be content with the rewards that come from serving God.
