A Wave

“Eventually, I've come to believe there is a Lamplighter in my life, and how and where to look for Him!”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

A Deep Breath of Life

Alan Cohen

“No one and nothing in the world has the power to put you down; the only time you fail is when you agree with rejection. When you feel like giving up, remember you may need just one more try to get over the edge. Pause before reacting; remember that you have tapped into an unsuspected inner resource, and you will find a new strength that you never knew you had. Today, help me remember my true value, worthiness and the importance of my creations; to believe in myself as God believes in me.”

Facing the Music

Rabbi Shefa Gold

“In recovery, thoughts, words, and actions of the past begin to ripple through us, awakening a new knowledge and power for the song that is yet to be born. In “facing the music,” we hear hesitant strains of our own broken dreams; the dissonance between intention and deed, between ecstatic ideal and sober reality. Where have I been half-hearted in my loving? Where have I created discord with my argument or complaint? How carefully have I listened? The song of my life makes a deep groove; a record that plays over and over and over again. We listen for harmony and counterpoint; in meditation we can stop the song to uncover its complex rhythms and beauty. When we begin to sing again, we can welcome a new singer and a new song to sing!”

Meditation for the Day

Meditation for the Day “Try not to give way to criticism, blame, scorn, or judgment of others when you are trying to help them. Effectiveness in helping others depends on controlling yourself. You may be swept away by a temporary natural urge to criticize or blame, unless you keep a tight rein on your emotions. You should have a firm foundation of spiritual living which makes you truly humble, if you are going to really help other people. Go easy on them and be hard on yourself. That is the way you can be used most to uplift a despairing spirit. And seek no personal recognition for what you are used by God to accomplish. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may try to avoid judgment and criticism. I pray that I may always try to build up others instead of tearing them down.”
