Sunday morning. Waking up at 5:15am, I was still tired from the Saturday night concert, and wanted to sleep in. But got in the car to meet up with David to ride out to the golf course. The sunrise was magnificent; the quiet morning was a piece of Heaven on Earth, like you promised. The 45-minute drive out with Dave provided fellowship you also promised, if I just trust the process and get into action. We both were in awe of the New life we've been given.
Meeting up with Bo & Jonathan, it was an amazing morning, and we had a great time. Accepting the good shots with the bad is another story. You also promised ego deflation; the golf course is another stage where this comes true. It was all about fellowship, not competition. We left without going to the 19th Hole to brag, complain or fantasize.
Afterwards, at Darby’s with Gail, we sat out on their patio for a great breakfast and to talk about the week ahead. You told me that I would learn to go with the flow. “Show me what to do next” is one of the prayers that still works.
Later, meeting Brian at his house, we read the Big Book and did some inventory work. It was obvious we both have a ways to go in this journey called sobriety. Both of us were trapped in Clovis, NM; lost, suffocating in our disease. SOMETHING spoke to us in a mysterious way, and we both ended up in recovery in AZ. How did that happen? It wasn't our plan.
Now, together in the White Mountains, we both still have doubts about The Power. Really? After all of the miracles? Insane.
You promised it was just one day at a time; to work the steps, trust the process and to give it away. We agreed it has been a miraculous adventure; that we could never have done on our own. And, to walk forward in Faith by passing it on; to keep getting out of God’s way, especially when we have great ideas, or get down about results not turning out our way.
At dinner with Gail, we got on the Zoom mtg. to join others to carry the message to Brent in Thailand. The openness, honesty and love was wonderful. Something has given me much more than a bottle, baggie or other strange fix to help me feel centered with purpose. It is not perfect, but I know one thing for sure; if I don’t continue to pass it on, I’ll be swept out to sea chasing fantasies. For me, it never ends well. At best, in a Motel 6 in Clovis, NM. or some other dive, lost & alone.
Thank you for Something far better than survival in the city; for a design for living that really works!
