What a day! Arguing with Gail about a crew fixing her sprinkler system, I had to surrender to the FACT that it’s her house, and her money! A “Father Know Best” and my friends “Bruce Almighty” philosophy are old ideas that continue to crop up. Richard came over for a bagel and coffee, then we left for the bar! Yes, OHSO on Indian School to have a diet coke and watch soccer. It was a chance to unwind, and it was only 11am! Thanks for the help to deal with my luxury problems.
This is where real fellowship comes in; a chance to get feedback on my part; for me, a far better and happier ending than waking up alone or with a stranger throwing up in the bed!
Heading out to Walter’s I grabbed some Arnold Palmers to enjoy, and we sat around with his wife, June, talking about their history and his personal journey in Step Seven. Walt reminded me that was, and still is, his favorite Step! Like Charles Chirch, gratitude is the answer. Thanks for continuing to send me the message to quit playing God.
Heading out to MAAM, I walked into a room filled with friends. Peter playing piano, then getting his 39 year, Jimmy & Geno getting their 15 year, Gary getting a 35, while Dan got his 49-year medallion. They are just “chips” – but each one celebrates a day lived in freedom trying to deal with life without a White Claw, pill or baggie of what’s killing so many. The laughter, love and joy in sharing the journey is something I would have missed. It really is progress, not perfection.
Picking up Gail, we drove out to meet my old college roommate Robbie & his wife Donna for dinner. The laughter and love at the table sharing adventures was so great. The couple next to us had a huge funnel on top of some fancy vase on their table. The waiter poured the wine into it. “What is that?” I asked. “It’s a wine aerator; it helps oxygenate the wine before you drink it” they said. Oh, really? I always wanted to be a smooth operator, but I think I’ll keep coming back for simple coffee and love!
