It was dark and 5:00 am Sunday, and I didn’t want to get out of bed. But I’d promised Dave to meet him in the parking lot to go play golf, so I dragged myself out of bed, got dressed, and did my readings. I felt new strength and let all thoughts go about the week prior, wrapping up the fallout from my brother's passing. It was heavy, but I let go as best I could.
The talk on the 45-minute drive out was just what I needed. Unload some anger, then some laughter with love, some new understanding.
Arriving at the course, it was a new day. Bo was there, looking like a model from GQ with his new haircut and he let us know it! Jonathon was there, and I got to ride with him and hear about his new book, Step Zero. Jonathon asked Dave if I was ready for it, and they had to decide! What? Me? I’m in advanced recovery, 43 years clean & sober, but I knew Step Zero was something I needed.
We had a great round, and Jonathon drove me back in his new Tesla, with the drive setting on INSANE. And the power was! It reminded me of the false belief that I just needed more self-power, yet the image from the dashboard setting would now leave my mind. It was INSANE.
When I got back to the cabin, I started to read the book, and the theme, Who Are You?, made sense. Review 3 areas: Mental, Emotional, Physical. Underneath those, You and the program of recovery have introduced me to a 4th Phase, SPIRITUAL. It was and is always there, but only until my first day in recovery did I consider learning about and expanding it. I need to continue.
Gail drove up and we headed to Charlie Clarks, and, although there was over an hour wait, we found 2 seats at the bar and had dinner. Who am I? A spiritual being, a child of God.
You promised me that if I just do what’s in front of me and trust the process, Something SPIRITUAL would carry me into a new life I would have never known. And the journey continues.
