You told me resentment is the number one offender. To what?? My peace of mind! To get to a state of “all is well” I must be free. I remember writing down my first inventory, and the list surprised me. I was angry at more people than I realized. My friend Charles Chirch once said, “With your resentment list, just write down everyone you’ve ever met; they probably did not live up to your expectations, or you were jealous of them!”
In the Old Testament, Moses says to Pharaoh “Let my people go!” Maybe that is what our recovery literature is asking of us?
“My child, why not let everyone off the hook, including yourself. I have a wonderful life mapped out for you. Know you’re loved, stay out of the prison of self. I’m in you. Be with Me.”
Yet, sometimes I return to that prison. Hurts, unmet expectations, of myself and of others puts me in such a trap. You told me to continue to turn my thoughts and actions to You. Thank You, God There Is a Solution! I did some of the work and turned to gratitude.
Once again, with 12 Steps to freedom, letting it all go, I met Gail and her girlfriends after she celebrated one of their birthdays at Flo’s. Flo came over to say thank you, and the Love was overwhelming; laughing, enjoying humor and life, it was wonderful. They took a picture with her, and all left to go home with feelings of love.
Gail and I then drove over to Jenny’s Ice Cream at The Quarter. Big Love, and good ice cream(!) was the energy, not resentment or any other negative feelings. We walked around, enjoying a beautiful Saturday afternoon people-watching and some kids playing in the fountains!
Oh, what a wonderful world it really is!
