Some of the old classic commercials were just perfect. For Alka Seltzer, it was “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is.” For a bath, it was, “Calgon, take me away.” And for Tanqueray, it was, “Are you ready to Tanqueray?”
That sense of ease & comfort that came at once from a drink & drug was long gone. Just how am I going to get comfortable in my skin, with all of my thoughts, regrets, and fears of making a living and providing a good life for my family? I called my sponsor, and once again, he had the answer. “Steve, the problem centers in our minds.
Take a few minutes to get quiet; look where you have been brought since the last time you woke up with a hangover.” He was right. After a few minutes, it hit me.
Something IS working in my life; I have no idea what it is, or how it’s going to carry me thru this 'issue de jour.'
I took a deep breath and said to myself, “OK whoever You are, thank You; can you please help me again?”
After reading the book with Cliff last night after dinner, I went downstairs, and looked at the ‘Vette.
“OK, let’s see what you got” I said. I turned the key and roared to life, full of the charge from the other day.
The sound was magical. What a Miracle!!!
Maybe I just need to keep getting the charge, one day at a time, and trust that new life will happen.
That's been the way it’s worked for me for over 40 years!
I don’t need to Tanqueray today; life’s been good to me, thank you for a better way to get charged up, just one day at a time!
