Before smartphones, some of my friends had a Garmin device that displayed a new GPS technology.
It was a huge step up from the paper books and maps supplied by AAA.
Yesterday, at the Crossroads Ocotillo breakfast before the 11 am meeting, my friend Eddie from Philly was celebrating 17 years. Sitting with 3 guys reading the Big Book, Eddie is a real life Miracle. His story is almost impossible to describe. But like me, clean and sober, Eddie discovered a new compass to rely on for direction in life.
Sometimes my needle goes wacky, but when I take a deep breath to relax, it comes back to guide me through the turmoil and frustrations in life.
Later, my son Aaron, driving for DoorDash, kept running into closed roads and detours because of the Ironman event. I’m so glad he called me, to share his frustrations and willingness to move forward.
Then, having dinner at Gail's with Fernando & Monica, we all laughed about some of our old ideas and efforts to manage everything ourselves. I’ve got the answer. Oh sure you do!!
Thanks for showing me a new path; that even when my compass is wrong, I can hit the reset button, and reach out to one of you. It works. It really does. A much better way to navigate life, rather than find a drive-up liquor store, barstool or shady connection for help!
