“Turn it over?” What does that mean? I thought I was supposed to just try harder. But I couldn’t stop using & drinking, and I asked for help. Today, years later, thoughts, emotions, feelings & my reactions still sometimes plague me. Thoughts like “What can’t I do better? Why me? When is this going to end? Why are they acting this way?" These thoughts come up, and seem to attach like Velcro to my being. Not long ago, I was completely trapped, obsessed with a family situation. I had tried prayer, meditation, writing, exercise, even washing and waxing my car! It was then I had the brilliant idea to call my sponsor. I did, we got together, and I told him all of the things “they” were doing. Then we both laughed; I was giving all of my power to the problem. The terms “Turn It Over” and “Let Go Let God” came to mind. We call it "A Solution." We talked, and asked for forgiveness together.
Thanks, AA for giving me understanding men and women to help, as well as to turn to. On this special day of Rosh Hashanah, we give thanks for the ability to turn to the One who has all Power; to believe change is possible through God (אֲדֹנָי - Adonai) who watches over us all.
