“Why had my life spun out of control?”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

The 13 Attributes of Mercy

From My Jewish Learning

“We often ask, ‘How can I offer hope when I’m still searching for it myself?’ It’s all about being present; raw, vulnerable, real; when the ground feels unsteady beneath us. God’s name is mentioned 13 times in Psalm 27! ‘God is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? I pray to dwell in Your house all the days of my life, knowing the beauty of You and dwelling in Your holy place.’ It is a cry of both courage and vulnerability, a recognition that, even in our darkest moments, we are not abandoned. Turning to the 13 Attributes, we not only invoke God’s mercy, but we agree to and hold ourselves accountable to those same standards. We open ourselves, that compassion & goodness be in our own lives.”

Adapted from Offering Our Presence

Richard Rohr, Practicing The Presence

“I offer myself to Thee. So what exactly does that mean? It requires a reshaping of our existence. It requires redistribution of our dependence on visual information. Close your eyes and say it: ‘Here. Here I am. Here I am with You. Here is all of me.’ It’s an ongoing, persistent call in an ever moving world. ‘Here I am. All of me.’”

Meditation for the Day / Prayer of the Day

Hazelden Foundation

“Spiritual progress is the law of my being. Help me to see more more of beauty and truth, knowledge and power. This law of spiritual progress gives meaning and purpose to my life; that I may always expect better things ahead. Let me never be too discouraged to move forward in Faith, in spite of my setbacks. Help me to be part of the cure of the world's ills, rather than part of the disease. Prayer of the Day I pray that I may keep progressing in the better life. I pray that I may embrace and focus on the forces for good in the world, rather than the negative.”
