A Wave

August 28, 2025

“Much to my surprise, it's become the formula to let go, and not to worry about a thing!”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

How to Relieve Stress and Anxiety without Substances

Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation

“Pressure can come from both outside, and inside, too – from our pride, shame and/or sense of unworthiness. Many of us have tried to medicate our anxiety with alcohol, marijuana & other drugs. The internal message 'I need to drink to be able to sleep, or to deal with stress at the end of my workday’ works for awhile, but it opens the door for addiction. At the end of the cycle of helping us, drinking & using other drugs ends up producing even more anxiety. Then, after a short period of abstinence, we discover everything that was stressing us out is still there. We enter into an even more acute sense of anxiety, saying to ourselves, ‘Whoa, whoa, I have absolutely no coping skills for this now.' It’s obvious we need help, but how, and from where?

Daily Meditation, August 28, 2017

Richard Rohr, O.F.M.

"God’s grace re-creates all things. Nothing new happens without forgiveness. We must learn to forgive ourselves; without a relationship with a loving, forgiving God, we just keep repeating the same old patterns, illusions, and half-truths."

Twenty-four A Day

Meditation for the Day “A life of power, joy and satisfaction is built on love and service. Little acts of love & encouragement erase the rough places of life and help to make a path smooth. If we do these things, we cannot help having our share of happiness. Prayer For The Day “I pray that I may give my share of love & service. I pray that I may not grow weary in my attempts to do the right thing.”
