A Wave

“With today’s readings, a wonderful memory came to mind.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Emotional Equilibrium

Richard Rohr

Sometimes, our inner committees express their distress, firing up the subway for a frantic rush hour. Contemplation liberates me from being a prisoner of my trains of thoughts & feelings; it helps me to realize that I am not my thoughts & feelings; to accept that these inner reactions and negotiations are happening to me.\n\nOften, without my consent, like digestion, fatigue or laughter, it happens.\n\nIn the stillness, new insights, comfort & ways of being arise. If stepping off the train is letting go; if dwelling in the stillness is letting be; receiving these gifts is letting Him come. With this gift, I experience a kind of liberation, a setting free.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Meditation for the Day Do not dwell too much on the mistakes, faults & failures of the past. Be done with shame, remorse and contempt for yourself. With God's help, develop a new self-respect. Unless you respect yourself, others will not respect you. You ran a race, you stumbled and fell, you have risen again, and now you press on toward the goal of a better life. Do not stay to examine the spot where you fell; let go of the shortsightedness that prevented you from seeing the real goal sooner. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may not look back and be stuck in my shame. With Your help, God, I pray I may have the strength to pick myself up to make a fresh start each day.
