A Wave

July 13, 2025

“Looking back, the best things for me happened when I let go; maybe it’s the tool to pick up when things look dark?”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

The Gift of Darkness

Richard Rohr

Spiritual transformation is often thought of as movement from darkness to light. In one sense that’s true, while in another sense, it’s totally false. We forget that darkness is always present alongside the light. Pure light blinds; shadows are required for our seeing. There is something that can only be known by going through “the night sea journey” from which we awaken on a new shore. There are no perfect structures; no perfect people. Perfectionism only makes us resentful & judgmental. Grateful people emerge in a world rightly defined, for whom darkness is no surprise, but an opportunity. Today, help me accept a mixed reality; to learn to honor the wisdom of darkness.

Reading

Eckhart Tolle

When you become comfortable with uncertainty, infinite possibilities open up in your life. It means fear is no longer a dominant factor in what you do; fear no longer prevents you from taking action to initiate change. The Roman philosopher Tacitus observed that 'the desire for safety stands against every great & noble enterprise.' If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear. If it is perfectly acceptable, it turns into aliveness, alertness and creativity.

Meditation for the Day

Meditation for the Day Believe that what God has in store for you is better than anything you ever had before. To grow old happily, expect better things right up to the end of your life, and even beyond that. A good life is a growing, expanding life. Ever-widening horizons, an ever-greater circle of friends & acquaintances, with greater opportunities for usefulness are always available for us on the Spiritual journey. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may await with complete faith for the next good thing You have in store for me. I pray that I may always keep an expectant attitude toward life.
