A Wave

December 8, 2024

“Walking into recovery, the image of being a superstar with a life of glamour was shattered.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Letting Our Images Mature

Center for Action and Contemplation

Our image of God creates us—or defeats us. There is an absolute connection between how we see God and how we see ourselves. The word “God” is a stand-in word for everything—Reality, truth; the very shape of our universe. Without an interior journey of prayer or inner experience, much of religion is largely childhood conditioning. A mature God creates mature people. A big God creates big people. A punitive God creates punitive people. In our recovery, the 12 Steps ask us to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God. Today, I will share my journey so far in my search for a Higher Power.

A Deep Breath of Life

Alan Cohen

As we search our minds for any thoughts of lack, we can offset them with thoughts of abundance. We can practice living as if there’s always enough of what we need; with that foundation, we manifest great supply. Some people have bank checks printed with the motto, “God is my Source.” Help me remember that You are the source of all of my good; One who provides a life of abundance. As I continue to turn to the invisible hand of grace and goodness, Your abundance becomes visible.

Meditation for the Day

Hazelden Foundation

And greater works than this shall ye do. We can do greater works when we have more experience of the new way of life. We can have all the power we need from the Unseen God. We can have His grace, His spirit, to make us effective as we go along each day. Opportunities for a better world are all around us. Greater works can we do. But we do not work alone. The power of God is behind all good works. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may find a rightful place in the world. I pray that my work may be made more effective by the grace of God.
