A Wave

November 26, 2024

“If not for You, God, I would not have such a full and beautiful life.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

To Be Lost and Found

Richard Rohr

“If I want to find God, I have to seek the part of me that is lost. I have to get lost. I have to leave the safety of the inside and venture out. I have to recognize my own lostness and give consent to be found. God looks for us when our lostness is so convoluted and so profound, we can’t even pretend to look for God. But even in such bleak and hopeless places, God finds us. This is amazing grace. And it is ours.”

How to Meditate (Enhanced Edition)

Pema Chödrön

“The path of meditation isn’t always a linear path. It’s not like you begin to open, and you open more and more and you settle more and more, and then all of a sudden the confining box is gone forever. There are setbacks. Hitting the brick wall is just a stage. It means you’ve reached a point where you’re asked to go even further into open acceptance of life as it is, even into the unpleasant feelings of life. The real inspiration comes when you finally join in with that fluidity, that openness. Before, you were cruising with your practice, feeling certain about it, and that feeling can be “the best” in many ways. And then wham! You’re given a chance to go further.”

One-Liners

Ram Dass

“In mystical traditions, it is one’s own readiness that makes experiences exoteric or esoteric. The secret isn’t that you’re not being told. The secret is that you’re not able to hear.”

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Meditation for the Day - "He that has eyes to see, let him see." “To the seeing eye, the world is good. Pray for a seeing eye, to see the purpose of God in everything good. Pray for enough faith to see God's care in His dealings with you. Try to see how He has brought you safely through your past life so that now you can be of use in the world. With the eyes of faith you can see God's care and purpose everywhere. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may have a seeing eye. I pray that with the eye of faith I may see God's purpose everywhere.”
