Will this ever stop? How is it all going to get done? The paperwork never stops, and the feelings of grief, anxiety or not knowing can still be too much. I reflected back on the many times I felt overwhelmed with life and had to just get quiet for a few minutes. Quiet was often not the result; oftentimes, it was just simply detaching from the inner noise! You told me to walk deeper into the cloud of unknowing. It worked then; it works in the now.
Last night, talking with someone struggling with life on life's terms, I asked if they’d heard the expression, ‘does the noise in my head bother you?’ The laughter was fabulous. We both asked why it's so easy to get caught up in the drama of life. Let go was the key.
This AM, walking into the Eye Opener Mtg. at White Mountain Fellowship Hall, the topic was the actor’s scenario and Step 3. Gary described Something at work saving him when he fell out of a boat while fishing. He's not sure what it was! The love and laughter was so powerful; once again, we all got to laugh at ourselves. It's the same vibe I got at my first meeting in 1983.
Later at breakfast at Monicas, our server Misty talked about the Inner Spirit that shines through. She showed Dave & I a drawing of her upcoming tattoo, it hit me that I would have missed so much in life without intervention of that Something. And it continues.
Raising kids, making money, marriage & divorce, changes in employment & career. One thing remained constant – inspiration from you in the waves of sobriety. Taking time to step aside, detach and be grateful is the most important thing in my life. The beat goes on.
Today, thanks for showing me how to take time to enjoy and how to continue to Ride the Waves!
