“Instead of 'father knows best' Our Father knows better, far better than my own plans and designs.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Day by Day: Daily Meditations for Recovering Addicts

Hazelden Foundation

Because of our addiction, our actions (and inaction) have fostered cynicism, futility, and distrust. How could we ever have hoped to succeed with attitudes like that? Now, in recovery, we are cultivating new virtues of love, understanding, and patience. We know that our Higher Power loves us and will lead us if we only ask. Even though it is often quite slow and difficult, as we embrace His Love, we begin to pass it on with affirmations, new courage and strength. Today, God, I ask You to take my hand and lead me from my old attitudes, toward Your love and the promise of new virtues.

A Deep Breath of Life

Alan Cohen

I have a formula for knowing if a next step is the right one for you: If you feel both excited and scared, that is it! If you’re just excited and not afraid, there is no challenge; you are still in your safe zone, and growth is unavailable. If you’ re just afraid, there is no positive motivation. Why walk through a fear unless there is something you are walking toward? But if you are simultaneously turned on and frightened, do it and watch your growth skyrocket. Today, God, I pray for the courage to follow my inner Spirit, Your personal gift to me, that I may walk past my fears to make the New reality come true.

Meditation For The Day

I will have faith, no matter what may befall me. I will be patient, even in the midst of troubles. I will not fear the strain of life, because I believe that God knows just what I can bear. I will look to the future with confidence. I know that God will not ask me to bear anything that could overcome me or destroy me. Prayer For The Day I pray that I may put this day in the hands of God. I pray for faith, so that nothing will upset me or weaken my determination to stay sober.
