“If it can work for a fool like me, it can work for anyone.”

Three readings. A song that says the rest. And inspiration for whatever this day is here to teach.

Death Into Life

Richard Rohr

“In recovery, we all go through many deaths, turning points when we have to ask, “What am I going to do now?” I can turn bitter, look for someone to blame, and close down. But when we surrender to God’s Love, we can come out the other side, transformed, more alive, more open, more forgiving of ourselves & others. We know somehow that we’ve been led there. We’re not holding on; we’re being held by a larger force, One that is not our own. The miracle of it all is that God has found the most ingenious way to transform the human soul. God uses the very thing that would normally destroy us—the tragic, the sorrowful, the painful, the unjust deaths that lead us to the bottom — to transform us. Each day we are reborn in Spirit. Just for today, help me be willing to trust the death of all things, thoughts, and habits so that I may be filled with Your Spirit & Love.”

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Meditation For The Day “Once I am "born of the spirit," that is my life's breath. Within me is the life of life, so that I can never perish. The life that down the ages has kept God's children through peril, adversity, and sorrow. I must try never to doubt or worry, but follow where the life of the spirit leads. How often, when little I know it, God goes before me to prepare the way, to soften a heart, or to overrule a resentment. As the life of the spirit grows, natural wants become less important. Prayer For The Day I pray that my life may become centered in God more than in self. I pray that my will may be directed toward doing His will.”
